"New Generations should consider changing their name to 'New Lease on life', That's exactly how my mother feels about them. Their services have given her a "New" level of confidence, comfort and well being, not to mention the Peace of mind it gives her family knowing that she is taken care of when we can't be there. Thanks Again NG!"
A family-owned and managed business, New Generations Home Care, Inc. opened in 2000 with 4-5 clients in 8 counties. Growing steadily as its reputation for quality care spread, we now serve hundreds of clients in 18 counties from offices in Florence and Bluffton, SC. Additionally, New Generations Inc. is one of the largest operators of Adult Day Centers in the state, with facilities in Florence, Marion, and Ridgeland, SC.
It was founded by Gail Belissary and her daughter Karen Belissary. Gail has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina and 35 years of nursing experience in coronary care, dialysis, and medical-surgical nursing in Florence. Gail was one of the original founders of Home Health, Inc. which later was sold to McLeod Regional Medical Center and she has over 20 years experience in both nursing management and home and community-based services. Gail has been listed in Who's Who in American Nursing and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau (the National Honor Society for Nursing). She serves as the administrator for both New Generations Home Care, Inc. and New Generations Adult Day Center, Inc.
Karen Belissary, though her New York University degree is in interior design, handles the day-to-day functioning of the adult day center and is director of marketing for both businesses. She is involved in numerous civic and community organizations, sitting on the boards of both Pee Dee Mental Health and Limestone College. She's always ready to speak with any group or organization in the area to extol the merits of home care or adult day care.
John Belissary serves as legal counsel and assistant administrator for both businesses. He is currently president of the South Carolina Association of Personal Care Providers, SCAPCP. He has also served as president of the South Carolina Adult Day Services Association and is currently serving as treasurer. He served, at the request of South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services; on the blue ribbon panel for a federal initiative called money follows the person. John works closely with both associations to educate members of the state legislature and to urge agency heads to protect funding for both home care and adult day health care services.
Ann Belissary, John’s wife, is the office manager of New Generations Home Care, Inc. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Converse College and a Master’s in Educational Counseling from the University of South Carolina, Columbia. Ann uses her training daily in dealing with families, clients and staff under stress. Ann serves as the Chairperson of the Nominating Committee for the South Carolina Association of Personal Care Providers. She is actively involved in educating state legislators on the value of home and community based services for the elderly and disabled citizens of South Carolina.
George Manos is Director of Marketing for New Generations Home Care. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina school of Business and spent over 20 years in sales and marketing for a fortune 500 company. He most recently was involved in the financial services industry focusing on retirement planning and long term care. As many in our profession, his association with the home care profession stemmed from personal experience. These experiences have prompted a strong advocacy for caregiver issues and support. He actively serves on boards and committees serving Alzheimer’s, Veterans and Senior Citizens (Aging in Place) interests as well as involvement with promoting community based services thru the South Carolina Personal Care Association.
Lynn Ford is Human Resources Director for New Generations Home Care, Inc. She has almost 20 years of experience in managing all aspects of home care and other medically-related offices. While she specializes in human resource issues, Lynn is talented in developing, and juggling, schedules. She has a patient ear for hearing clients' concerns. Lynn's one of those rare people who want to stay busy - she multitasks very well!
Karen Artis-Bacote, RN is the director of nursing for the New Generations Adult Day Center in Florence, SC. She is a graduate of Florence-Darlington Technical College, and currently is pursuing a BSN at Francis Marion University, in Florence. Karen loves working with the geriatric and special needs population. She assists home care with supervisory visits and competency evaluations for home care. She is also the program coordinator and an instructor for our New Generations Job Training Center.
Kathy Rushing is our Bookkeeper. A graduate of West Florence High School, she studied accounting at Florence-Darlington Technical College. She and her husband Keith reside in Florence. Besides music Kathy enjoys spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, and is looking forward to the arrival of her new grandchild next month. She follows SEC football as a lifelong, diehard fan of the University of Alabama Crimson Tide.
Jackie Johnson Springer is our Administrative Specialist. She has a number of years of office experience in bookkeeping and supervision. Additionally, she is a certified nursing assistant who worked in the field with New Generations Home Care, Inc. for several years. If the regular personal care aide cannot make a scheduled visit, Jackie doesn't hesitate to go to the client to provide the needed care. Jackie's a sympathetic, understanding listener who, having had experience working in the field, knows first-hand the concerns and problems the direct care staff encounters.
Mary Amonitti, born and raised in South Carolina, returned to the state ten years ago. She lives in Hilton Head Island with her husband Dr. George J. Amonitti, MD. Mary attended school in Philadelphia and majored in Business Administration at Villanova University. She has over 30 years of diverse business experience ranging from human resources to medical practice management. She loves engaging seniors and recently received her Dementia Specialist Certification. A tireless volunteer, Mary serves on several community boards and committees including Vice Chair of South Carolina Commission for Minority Affairs and Advisory Board for SCANA Corporation. For relaxation she enjoys tennis and spending time with her grandchildren.
Samantha Orange, with a number of years experience in the field as a personal care aide, takes call every evening and weekend. If she can't find a fill-in aide to provide care when the assigned aide calls in, we're never surprised to know that Sam went to the client herself. She's wonderful with the call- she's generally able to discern if she's being given an excuse- says she may have used most of them herself! Sam loves giving client care and adores every client she has - she just can't help herself. And she goes the "extra mile" with every client she gets to know.
Valerie M. "Shelly" Noreen is the Clinical coordinator for New Generations Bluffton office and has 15 years experience in the medical field. Shelly started out her medical career as a certified medical assistant as well as receiving her certification in Phlebotomy. She then continued with her education to get her License as a Practical Nurse. Shelly has worked in medical offices ranging from Asthma and Allergies, Cardiology, Pediatrics to Home Health care. She has experience in Minor Emergency Clinics and has been a nurse in Correctional facilities. She was born and raised in the South, having spent most of her life in Georgia. She now calls Bluffton, SC home. Shelly meets everyone with a caring smile, a kind heart and even a shoulder to cry on when needed.
We have a number of supervisory staff - both RNs and LPNs - who work in the field exclusively.
We consider our Direct Care Staff the unsung heroes of our organization. These nurses and aides - over 130 strong - who serve our clients are the lifeline to quality and dignity. These employees are the first to meet a client's needs, notice if they're going through some kind of change and offer suggestions to solve problems. They act as their client's advocate and make sure each client's nurses and loved ones are aware of his or her preferences, desires and needs. They listen, provide emotional support and help our clients in their everyday quests to live as independently as possible. Simply put, we could not fulfill our mission - to care for our clients with compassion - without their hard work and dedication. Each day they live up to our motto of being Simply the Best and have made New Generations Home Care one of the most respected home care providers in the state of South Carolina.
